SURREAL, MODERN, CONTEMPORARY, ABSTRACT WALL ART CREATION

I'm Co Owner and Artist GG (Joanne) Barrett. Cat companions and horses rule my world and I love them all dearly as they light up my life. My art, in main, is equine. The concepts of movement, passion, power, freedom and spirituality inspire me. I capture the energy, emotion and power of the horse in a very unique, bold and surreal way through the use of eye-catching still art and digital media. Horses are such stunning animals, so it's no wonder, that many people draw, paint and sculpt them and horse art is so popular, from realism to abstract, from Leonardo Di Vinci to Jo Taylor, a local artist who’s work I happen to love,. It's true that horses have been emulated millions and millions times over in artwork across the globe and across time. Having said that, I have been commissioned to create and design other animal art too, including cats, and even a hamster! Furthermore, because of the way I like to create movement in my artwork, I have been asked to capture dancers, city scenes and cars in my style which is a challenge I was both eager and scared to rise to but I did successfully.
What is my background? I’ve always had a creative flair.. acting, dancing, art, writing.. but never really pursued any of them seriously. At University I studied art and creative writing in my first year, along with journalism. As you can see, the degree came in handy! I never really took my studies seriously and only understood how foolish I was for leaving my art portfolio behind when I applied for an interior design degree when the corporate scene got boring for me, it really stifled my creativity! In the end, if you allow it, society stifles our creativity; it stifles our imagination, our flair for life. And this is where I was, stifled.
I came alive with art again 10 years ago, when I was frantically searching for a piece of art that was visually different and even a little abstract. We had a lot of white wall space that needed filling with something that was a talking point, a centre piece. But boy was I struggling. Don’t get me wrong. There is a LOT of amazing art out there, but nothing was speaking to me. I had never used digital media to create, I wasn’t even on Facebook actively at this time. But, I did, and I just started to learn and play with the tools, and voila, along came three pieces which are stunning, bright, unique and centre pieces. My neighbour was so impressed she bought one off me and urged I start a business.. ‘Animal Acrylic Art’ was the name of my first equestrian art business! And to sell my work was my game.. (can we put the ROFL emoji in here anywhere!). You guessed, it wasn’t the raging success I planned it to be. I left the rolling hills of the Essex country side, single (note my sarcasm, Essex is very flat, pretty, but flat) and moved back up North to settle in my current home full of animal art, cats purring and love. I lived a comfortable life, but was always searching for the next big online opportunity, throwing money at ‘schemes’ hanging on to the promise of ‘this will work’ and always training my horse and loving life. Many lessons learned and now back in a job but still yearning for my entrepreneurial spirit to be given the opportunity to take flight, Urban Fraggle Art was born. My passion is capturing the energy, emotion and power of the horse in a very unique, bold and abstract way, using still art and digital media, my work is emotive, spiritual and eye catching.
This artwork looks stunning, big, bold and beautiful in my home and could be that extra special touch in yours.
I also envisage it large scale and supersized prints in corporate, hotel and business environments as wall art, wall murals, wall hangings and even, splash backs.
