Abstract Art: Order Amongst the Chaos

There are many views on different types of art, and one genre which always brings up controversy is abstract art.
I personally love it. It's often bright and bold and looking at it can bring about questions. Questions of how the artist thought to even start it, are there hidden images that only those who dare to look and examine further will find.
We live in a world which isn't black and white. So why does art have to be?(and I don't mean in the sense of colour, I mean in the sense of creativity). Art is about expression, it's not rigid, so why are many so uptight about abstract art?
I remember a few years back I was in a little coffee shop where displayed were pieces of abstract art. I liked them, but looking deeper I started to see things, shapes of animals, faces, scenic places. It made the work all that more meaningful.
My drawings are impressionistic, not perfect. Does this make my work any less meaningful? It was said to me the other day that it was a cop out that my drawings were not exactly perfect. I felt this was quite an ignorant response to the whole meaning of 'Art'.
Art is subjective, and not everyone will like what you do. But many will. So concentrate on the positive and disregard the negative.
What are your thoughts?
