Well, hello to you all. Hope you had a spiffing Christmas and you are sticking to your new year resolutions (you should be, its only the 3rd of Jan!) I'm nursing a cold.. I don't often get them, and I'm not dead on my feet, but I'm stuffy and snuffly and sat in my living room wearing a woolly hat feeling the chill..the glam life of an artist. Not!
So, Urban Fraggle Art are heading in a new direction.. I'm not going to reveal what yet, as you will find out when you visit the site once it has been updated.
We have acquired an Independent Consultant whom I have to say, is helping us see the bigger picture of where we are headed and what art is really worth. He sees great value in my work, and wrote an amazing review Read Here.
One snippet I will let you into is I'm changing my business name to GG Barrett. This in itself is a bold move. But, there is a reasoning behind it.. here is my little story of GG.
Those of you who have been following my journey will know I started creating digital art 10 years ago with the name Animal Acrylic Art..around that time I bought a super little Audi TTS (which I still have and love). I wanted the number plate 'GeeGee', but it was priced to the tune of £200,000.. waaay out of my budget. So, I forgot about.
Fast forwards to now. GG appears in the business name, and is in fact our logo. In a meeting a few weeks ago we were discussing my signing my work. My name, to me, is just so meh.. (why my parents couldn't have been more imaginative is anyone's guess.. but I digress).. But alas, I had an epiphany at that moment and decided GG Barrett was going to be my artist name.. it just felt so right! Some may view it as pompous, but sometimes our every day names just don't have that zingy swing we want them too.. so, GG it is, and it seems so fitting with the horse art.. (it all just 'fits')
I don't know if any of you understand synchronicity? It's a Carl Jung theory of meaningful coincidences (which I've had many of over the last year or so). When I came up with the name Urban Fraggle Art, there was no reasoning behind it, in fact Fraggle was a suggestion from one of my friends whilst we were umming and arring over a name. To some it doesn't make sense.. but its quirky, and I like quirky, so it stayed. And, not everything has to make sense, and this makes it more memorable :D
When I designed the logo you will see the the G's are facing one another.. this then became the short version of the logo
So, to have my name as GG just makes perfect sense, and lets not forget my art is equine (Geegee) led. It all just fits so perfectly from 10 years ago, to now.. Sometimes we don't know the why until the story begins to unfold, and this is why I love synchronicity so much. There are signs out there for all of us to interpret.. the Universe is guiding us every step of the way. We meet people for a reason, things happen for a reason.. our path isn't always easy. But it's our path to take.
